CRM Minute: Grounding

Writer's picture: sarah peterssarah peters

In the Community Resiliency Model, the skill of Grounding is defined as the direct contact of the body or part of the body with something that provides support in the present moment.  This could be noticing yourself connected to your chair through the back of your legs, connecting to the ground with your feet, or simply touching a surface with your hands and noticing the sensations, bringing your mind back into the present moment. Grounding refers to the ability to have not only our feet on the ground, but our minds on the ground.”
